An Droichead ag earcú Oifigeach Tionscadail Óige le ‘Deisceart Bhéal Feirste a thabhairt le chéile’ | An Droichead recruiting Youth Project Officer to ‘Unite South Belfast’

Tá An Droichead ag obair i gcomhpháirt le NI Alternatives ar chlár traenála, fostaíochta agus athmhuintearais darb ainm ‘Deisceart Aontaithe trí Cheannaireacht Fhorásach’, a dhíreoidh ar dhaoine óga sa dá phobal traidisiúnta i ndeisceart Bhéal Feirste chun deiseanna fostaíochta agus méadaithe scileanna a chur ar fail dóibh.

An Droichead is working in partnership with NI Alternatives on a training, employment and reconciliation programme called ‘Positive Leadership Uniting South’ (PLUS), which will work with young people in the two traditional communities to provide employment and opportunities to increase their skills.

Dúirt Pól Deeds, Príomhfheidhmeannach An Droichead:

“Tá An Droichead agus Alternatives ag obair ar thionscadail athmhuintearais, traenála agus ardú feasachta le blianta idir go díreach lena chéile agus tríd an obair a dhéanann muid ar Pháirtíocht Athnuachana Comharsanachta Dheisceart Bhéal Feirste Ionchathrach. Tháinig an tionscadal áirithe seo as plé a bhí againn le comhpháirtithe éagsúla le tamall anuas fá cén dóigh le tacaíocht a chur ar fáil do dhaoine óga sna ceantracha seo chun fostaíocht s’acu a fheabhsú. Is comharsanachtaí iad na háiteanna seo i nDeisceart Bhéal Feirste ina bhfuil gnóthachtáil íseal oideachais iontu a thrasnaíonn na teorainn phobail traidisiúnta, agus is fadhb í seo dár linn go dtig le comhpháirtíocht trasphobail mar seo dul i ngleic leis. Déanfaidh DACF/PLUS seo trí thraenáil a chur ar fáil, trí dheiseanna forbairt phearsanta a sholáthar agus trí chonstaicí eile a bhaineann le bochtaineacht agus le hoidhreacht na coimhlinte déanaí a shárú ag an aon am amháin.

Is mana de chuid An Droichead é le blianta fada ná ‘ag obair le chéile ar son na Gaeilge,’ agus leis an chomhpháirtíocht úr agus an t-Oifigeach úr seo, beidh muid ‘ag tabhairt Deisceart Bhéal Feirste le chéile’ ar son todhchaí ár ndaoine óga.”

Pól Deeds, An Droichead CEO, said:

“An Droichead has been working with Alternatives on reconciliation, training and awareness-raising projects for years both directly and through the work we do on the Inner South Belfast Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership. This particular initiative grew from a discussion taking place locally for some time now with different partners on how to support young people in these areas in improving their employability. These are neighbourhoods in which there is very low educational attainment – a problem that crosses traditional community boundaries and one which we believe this unique cross-community partnership can successfully tackle. PLUS aims to do so by providing training and personal development opportunities and, at the same time, by proactively overcoming obstacles linked to deprivation and other legacies of our recent conflict.

It has long been a motto of An Droichead that we are committed to ‘promoting Irish through partnership’ and with this new stage in our partnership along with the new Officer post, we will be uniting South Belfast in order to promote opportunities for all of our young people.”

Dúirt Debbie Hamill, Bainisteoir Oibríochtaí ag Alternatives:

“Tá lúcháir ar Alternatives agus muid ag toiseacht ar chomhpháirtíocht fhoirmeálta leis An Droichead i ndiaidh na mblianta fada bheith ag obair lena cheile thar Dheisceart Bhéal Feirste ag forbairt agus ag soláthar tionscnaimh dhea-chaidrimh. Ag croí DACF/PLUS tá coincheapa, scileanna agus luachanna comhtháite a chuideoidh le daoine óga tógáil ar dhea-chaidreamh, cur le muinín agus le haithléimneacht, agus infhostaitheacht s’acu a mhéadú. Tá a chuid saineolais ag an dá eagraíocht chomh maith le cur chuige ata bunaithe ar scileanna, rudaí a chuidíonn leo bheith ag obair go gníomhach chun tacú le daoine óga. Tá muid tógtha fá bheith ag obair leis An Droichead agus le rannpháirtithe DACF/PLUS agus tá muid ag dúil le daoine óga s’againne a fheiceáil ag forbairt mar cheannairí a thabharfaidh deisceart Bhéal Feirste le chéile.”

Debbie Hammill, Operations Manager at Alternatives, said,:

“Alternatives is delighted to be embarking on a formal partnership with An Droichead after many years of working together across South Belfast developing and delivering good relations initiatives.  At the heart of PLUS is an integration of core concepts, skills, and values to help enable young people to build and develop life skills that foster good relations, build confidence and resilience, and make them more employable.  Each organisation has its own expertise and skills-based approach that is complimentary to working positively to support young people.  Having the opportunity to work closely with An Droichead and the PLUS participants, is really exciting and we look forward to seeing our young people develop as positive leaders that unite south”.

Tá coinníollacha maithe ag baint leis an phost – agus é maoinithe ag an Chiste Idirnáisiúnta d’Éirinn ag scála NJC a 5 ar a laghad – agus tá An Droichead ag súil go bhfaighidh siad Gaeilgeoir cumasach tiomanta a bhfuil taithí acu bheith ag tacú le daoine óga trí chláir thraenála agus méadaithe fostaíochta.
