Ealaíona na Gaeilge: Ród Seó na Gaeilge
The Irish Language Arts: The Irish Language Road Show

Ród Seó na Gaeilge
The Irish Language Road Show
I rith an ama, reáchtáil POBAL imeachtaí le healaíona na Gaeilge a chur chun cinn, le deiseanna nua a thabhairt do lucht na teanga teacht le chéile agus Gaeilge a úsáid, agus le díriú isteach ar riachtanais ar leith an phobal. Chomh maith le ceardlanna i nGaelscoileanna fud fad na 6 chontae ar scríbhneoireacht cruthaíoch le Máire Zepf agus le Séamas Mac Annaidh, thar thréimse 5 bhliain le maoiniú ón Chomhairle Ealaíon agus tacaíocht ó roinnt comhairlí áitiúil agus deontais beaga, reáchtáil POBAL Ród Seó na Gaeilge, ag tabhairt amhránaithe agus ceoltóirí mór le rá le chéile le scríbhneoirí agus fílí. Ba ghníomh ceannródaíoch é, ag an tús, tacaíocht a lorg ó chomhairlí áitiúil dá leithéid! Dá uair sa bhliain, rachfadh POBAL amach ar an bhóthar thart timpeall na 6 chontae, ag cur ceardlainne ar fáil i nGaelscoileanna agus ag reáchtáil ceolchoirmeacha do dhaoine fásta san oíche. Ar na hoirfidigh a ghlac páirt sa Ród Seó bhí Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Julie Fowlis, John Spillane, Pauline Scanlan, Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin, Louis de Paor, Steve Cooney, Séamus Mac Annaidh agus daoine eile nach iad.
POBAL consistently organised activities to promote the Irish language arts, to provide new opportunities for Irish speakers to get together and use the language, and to focus on the particular needs of the community. As well as creative writing workshops in Irish medium schools throughout the 6 counties with Máire Zepf and Séamas Mac Annaidh, for over 5 years, with funding from the Arts Council NI, some local councils and small grants, POBAL ran the Irish language Road Show, bringing renowned singers and musicians together with writers and poets. At the beginning, it was a ground-breaking action to ask local councils for support for this type of event! Twice a year, POBAL went out on the road around the 6 counties, providing workshops in schools and organising concerts for adults in the evening. Among the artists who took part were Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Julie Fowlis, John Spillane, Pauline Scanlan, Pádraigín Ní Uallacháin, Louis de Paor, Steve Cooney, Séamus Mac Annaidh and many others.
