Comhthionscadal idir An Droichead agus Teaċ Daṁsa mar chuid de Bhéal Feirste 2024 | An Droichead and Teaċ Daṁsa collaboration as part of Belfast 2024

(English below)

I mí Mheán Fómhair na bliana seo tá comhoibriú úr spreagúil idir An Droichead agus an compántas damhsa agus amharclannaíochta aitheanta Teaċ Daṁsa ag teacht go Béal Feirste. Is saothar nua é Nobodaddy a chruthaigh Michael Keegan-Dolan as Teaċ Daṁsa agus a chomhléirigh An Droichead, ionad Gaeilge agus cultúrtha i mBéal Feirste a bhfuil gradaim buaite aige.

Ceapadh an saothar úr seo mar chuid de chlár Bhéal Feirste 2024. Beidh naonúr damhsóirí páirteach sa tsaothar úr seo, ina measc an damhsóir as Béal Feirste Ryan O'Neill, agus seisear ceoltóirí, ina measc an ceoltóir tíre aitheanta, Sam Amidon. Is toradh é ar chaidreamh bliana idir An Droichead agus Teaċ Daṁsa atá múnlaithe ag guthanna agus scéalta as gach cearn den chathair. Is deasghnáth damhsa agus amharclannaíochta é Nobodaddy agus léireofar den chéad uair é i Stiúideo Halla Waterfront ar 17 Meán Fómhair.

Dúirt Claire Kieran Oifigeach Ealaíon ag An Droichead....

Tá sé mar aidhm againn ag An Droichead daoine a spreagadh leis an Ghaeilge agus an cultúr Gaelach a bheith mar chuid dá saol agus tá sin ag teacht le héiteas Teaċ Daṁsa agus mar sin d’fhóir an chomhpháirtíocht go nádúrtha dúinn. Táimid iontach tógtha faoin chomhoibriú seo agus táimid bródúil go mbeidh an píosa ildisciplíneach seo, a cruthaíodh i nGaeltacht Iarthar Chiarraí agus atá spreagtha ag ár gcathair, le feiceáil den chéad uair anseo i mBéal Feirste.

Dúirt Michael Keegan Dolan, Stiúrthóir Ealaíne Teac Damsa....

In amanna mothaimíd go bhfuil an bóthar as Corca Dhuibhne in Iarthar Chiarraí go dtí an Droichead i mBéal Feirste thar a bheith fada ach thug na comhráití a bhí againn agus an obair atá déanta againn an-dlúth dá chéile sinn. Ba mhór an ionspioráid dúinn comhoibriú leis an fhoireann ag An Droichead. Is mar gheall air a thugann an obair a dhéanaimid ag Teaċ Daṁsa tuiscint níos doimhne dúinn ar an chiall atá leis an bheatha seo againn. Tríd an mhalartú seo d’fhoghlaim mé meas níos mó a bheith agam orthu siúd atá sásta lámh chuidithe a thabhairt.

Leanann Nobodaddy roinnt léirithe as Teaċ Daṁsa (MÁM, Swan Lake - Loch na hEala) a bhain duaiseanna agus seo an chéad uair a bheidh an compántas ar an ardán sa Chathair. Beidh sé ar siúl i Stiúideo an Waterfront Hall  i mBéal Feirste ar 17 agus 18 Meán Fómhair sula rachaidh sé ar aghaidh chuig Féile Amharclannaíochta Bhaile Átha Cliath níos moille an mhí sin. Is í Comhairle Cathrach Bhéal Feirste a mhaoinigh an tionscadal mar chuid de Bhéal Feirste 2024.

Beidh ticéid ar díol ón Luan 22 Iúil agus is féidir iad a fháil ag www.waterfront.co.uk agus www.androichead.com

This September an exciting new collaboration between An Droichead and the acclaimed dance and theatre company Teaċ Daṁsa is coming to Belfast. Nobodaddy, is a new work created by Michael Keegan-Dolan of Teaċ Daṁsa and co-produced by An Droichead, Belfast’s award-winning Irish language and cultural centre.

Conceived as part of the Belfast 2024 programme, this new work will feature nine dancers including Belfast dancer Ryan O’Neill, and 6 musicians including renowned folk musician, Sam Amidon. It is the culmination of a year-long engagement between An Droichead and Teaċ Daṁsa which has been shaped by voices and stories from across the city. Nobodaddy, is a dance and theatre ritual and will premiere in the Waterfront Hall Studio on 17th September.

Claire Kieran Arts Officer with An Droichead said

“At An Droichead we aim to inspire people to make Irish language and culture a part of their lives and this aligns with the ethos of Teaċ Daṁsa and so the partnership was a natural fit for us. We are really excited about this collaboration and proud that this multidisciplinary piece, which has been created in the West Kerry Gaeltacht and inspired by our city, will premiere here in Belfast.“

Michael Keegan Dolan, Artistic Director of Teaċ Daṁsa said

“The road from Corca Dhuibhne in West Kerry to An Droichead in Béal Feirste can at times feel very long but the conversations we have had and the work we have done together has brought us very close. Working with the team at An Droichead has been an inspiration. It has propelled the work we make at Teaċ Daṁsa deeper into an understanding of what it is to be alive. Through this process of exchange I have learned to appreciate more fully, the ones who are willing to extend a friendly hand.”

Nobodaddy follows several award-winning productions from Teaċ Daṁsa (MÁM, Swan Lake – Loch na hEala) and will be the first time the company have performed in the City. It will take place in the Waterfront Hall Studio Belfast on 17th and 18th September before going on to the Dublin Theatre Festival later that month. The project is funded by Belfast City Council as part of Belfast 2024.
