Bhí An Droichead i láthair ag imeacht iontach i bPáirc an Chrócaigh an tseachtain seo chaite nuair a bhronnadh Gradaim Gnó na hÉireann ar Chúram Lae An Droichead. Fuair an Cúram Lae trí bhonn óir, ar son seirbhís i nGaeilge, margaíocht agus brandáil, agus comharthaíocht Ghaeilge.

Bhí teach tábhairne an Rose & Crown i láthair chomh maith, gnó eile ó cheantar Ormeau Íochtaireach, a d’oibrigh le An Droichead thar an bhliain leis an Ghaeilge a chuir chun cinn. Fuair siadsan dhá bhonn chré-umha ar son seirbhís i nGaeilge, agus comharthaíocht Ghaeilge.

Is é seo an chéad bhliain do An Droichead bheith baint le Gradaim Gnó na hÉireann, agus tá súil ag an eagraíocht go mbeidh fás ar an scéim sa cheantar áitiúil ins na blianta atá amach romhainn.

Deir Brian Ó Gallachóir, Oifigeach Forbartha Gnó in An Droichead:

“Is mór an onóir dúinn an gradam seo a fháil don Chúram Lae le aitheantas a thabhairt don seirbhís iontach Gaeilge atá ar fáil ann, agus le taistpeáint cé chomh lárnach agus atá an Ghaeilge in achan rud a dhéanann An Droichead. Bhí sé ar dóigh chomh maith go raibh gnó eile ó Bhéal Feirste Theas mar pháirt de i mbliana chomh maith, agus tá súil agam go mbeidh sé seo mar spreagadh do na gnóthaí áitiúla ar fad an Ghaeilge a úsáid.”

An Droichead were in attendance at the presentation of Gradaim Gnó na hÉireann on Cúram Lae An Droichead last week - a brilliant event which took place in the Hogan Suite of Croke Park. The daycare unit picked up three gold medals, in recognition of service through Irish, marketing and branding, and Irish signage.

The Rose & Crown Bar, another business in the Lower Ormeau area, were also in attendance, having worked with An Droichead throughout the year to promote the Irish language. They received two bronze medals for service in Irish, and Irish signage.

This is the first year for An Droichead to be involved in Gradaim Gnó na hÉireann, and the organisation hopes that there will be an uptake in the scheme in the local area in coming years.

An Droichead’s business development officer Brian Ó Gallachóir said this:

”This is a great honour for us to receive this award for the Cúram Lae which gives recognition to the great services that we provide through Irish, and to demonstrate how central the language is to everything An Droichead does. It was great also that our neighbours in South Belfast, The Rose & Crown took part this year, and we hope that this will inspire other businesses in the area to use the language.”
